They were contracted to make special collectible miniature animals to act as prizes in boxes of their tea. By 1983 the series included 15 animals and they were in high demand in the United States. They were loved by collectors, who displayed them proudly in shelf units. They were popular items to trade, as everyone wanted a full set.
